Project J begins to run !

    After a few weeks of field work which we mainly focused on promoting our project, setting up the website and also preparing the lecture slides, we finally can start to run our project J. On 12 April 2021, we started our very first session of the Project J. Most of us joined the first session although we are not in charge of that particular session to give support to the team who are conducting the first lecture and also we can know how the lectures is being conducted.

    I was indeed surprised when I joined the session because I didn't expect there will be this large number of participants. This make me feel even more motivated to make this project a success one. The participants are very pro-active as well, they are frequently asking questions about things that they are not clear. This is a good sign as this shows that the participants are really interested in this particular subject. The lecturers, tutors and TAs also gave their best performance in this session. They are very patient in the teaching process and execute their tasks perfectly.

    After the first session comes to an end, we held a post mortem session to discuss on the flaws and strengths of the session. Everyone voiced out their opinions and finally we concluded that the major flaw is the syllabus is too packed for a beginner to learn. The beginner may need a lot of times to digest and absorb all of the knowledge. The actions that should be taken to solve this problem is explaining each slide in a more detailed way especially the syntax and also splitting the slides further into simpler form.

    After joining the first session, I feel like teaching is not an easy job at all and is a lot more difficult than it seems to be. The lecturers must have a very strong basic on the particular subject in order to teach well as they need to summarize the whole concept and explain it in the way that the knowledges will be easily absorbed by the participants.

    Since I am also one of the lecturer of this project J, I will work very hard and do adequate preparations in order to make the session progress smoothly without any issues. I wish to give my best performance and make the participants immense themselves in the learning process. Although this is not an easy task but I will try my best.

    Nonetheless, I am excited and looking forward to involve myself directly in the teaching process. Good luck to myself and all the team members 💪💪
